Record field for SBG Mid-Amateur and Senior Championships

SCSB District Golf - Sunday, March 14, 2021

A record field of 170 players travelled from across South-East Queensland to attend the combined Mid-Amateur and Senior Championships at Bribie Island Golf Club today. With a two-tee starting format and new venue, the players welcomed the quicker playing time and many commented on the excellent condition and presentation of the golf course.

SBG (Sunshine Coast, South Burnett and Glasshouse Mountains) was well-represented with players from all corners of our District; from Wantima to Nanango to Tin Can Bay.

Bribie local, Rusty Taylor took out the SCSBDGA Mid-Amateur Championship with a solid 1-under par round. Peter Bennett travelled from Redland Bay to take out the SCSBDGA Senior Championship with a gutsy 75 to prevail over a strong senior field.

Based on the success of the event format and location, the tournament will return to Bribie Island next year.
