It was fantastic to see the support for the Wondai Firies as people from far and wide came together on Saturday for the 7th Annual Firies Charity Golf Day to raise funds for the "RACQ Careflight Helicopter" and "Bike For Burns" charities.
Firies, golfers and wannabe golfers from Brisbane, Caboolture, Dalby, Bell and South Burnett travelled to Wondai Golf Club to support such worthy charities. Despite heavy rains and flooding the day before 70 players braved damp conditions to show their support.
Donations and sponsors were in abundance for the day. The major sponsor, Mick Guse Transport, and many local businesses were instrumental in providing much-needed support for the event. The numerous golf and novelty prizes were gratefully accepted by all but, all would agree the real winners on the day were the "RACQ Careflight Helicopter" and "Bike for Burns" charities. $3600 was raised on the day.
Raffle winners were:
- 1st prize - C Wood
- 2nd prize - J Mears
- 3rd prize - B Seymour.

Whilst participation was down (as is most of these events late in the calendar) It was pleasing to see the talent that turned up.
There is a new tentative date for next year which will be Feb 15 2014. This should ensure a greater participation especially as it is
hoped to have a situation where the overall winners will be Masters Qualifiers.
Regards to all
