The tournament scores reverted to an 18-hole event and only the first round scores count towards the results. Congratulations to the 2013 Champion, Peter Wouters for a great 1-under par 70 in testing to conditions on Sunday afternoon. Peter is also the event organiser and he and his team at Caloundra GC are to be congratulated for an excellent tournament that only the weather spoiled.

SCSB District Golf - Sunday, March 31, 2013

Rising star, Jake McLeod (Royal Qld - also with links to Oxley GC), has added the Sunshine Coast Men's Open to his growing list of impressive victories.

195 players competed in the 2013 Sunshine Coast Men's Amateur Open Championship at Headland Golf Club over the Easter weekend. 2012 Australian Garage Supermarket Town of Nambour Open

SCSB District Golf - Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Michael Dean has been crowned the 2012 Town of Nambour Open Champion. Dean, a Horton Park member, fired an even par final round to clinch victory from defending champion Adam Gemmell.

A field touted not only the largest but also the strongest in the tournaments 12 year existence were greeted with fresh winds on Saturday morning which increased throughout the day. A field of 207 players including 57 visitors, many of those from outside the Sunshine Coast zone, battled blustery conditions on a hard and fast Nambour layout enhanced by the recent dry spell.

The young guns of the Sunshine Coast lead the way after day 1 with local hope Nick Drinkwater and Caloundra junior Kodie Koski carding 3 over par 71’s in the testing conditions. They were closely followed by Indooroopilly junior Christopher Crabtree and Peregian Springs member Luke Parker. It was a tightly bunched affair with 29 players within five shots of the lead at the end on the day.

A field of 195 players backed up Sunday in similar conditions and it was Headland Golf Club’s Adam Rydwanski who got the jump on the pack with a sizzling three under 31 through the front nine.  Defending champion, Adam Gemmell, had the leader in his sights and with a birdie at sixteen to Rydwanski’s water hazard induced double bogey six he could sense a repeat of last year’s success.

A three putt bogey on the par three 17th and a missed birdie opportunity on the last saw him fall one short of Michael Dean’s 141 total. Dean’s final round, tournament low, 68 included 3 birdies in his final 9 holes.

Kodie Koski followed up his first round 71 with a 72 to take the Junior Title from a fast finishing Shae Wools-Cobb.

Local member Sam Talanoa claimed a come from behind win in the Senior event with a commendable final round 74 and there was more success for the Nambour members with Ross Varley edging out Stephen “Gonzo” Bull in the 36 hole net event.

94 players from 35 clubs throughout South-East Queensland and 17 players all the way from Taiwan competed in the 2012 Mt Coolum Junior Open on Sunday.

Jarrod Mann's (Keperra) 77 was good enough to win the major title. Lochie Coleborn (Mt Coolum) was the only player to play to handicap on the day with his 82/72.

However, Mt Coolum's Black Course Rating is only 71 (Par 72, Exact ACR 71.4). Mt Coolum has applied to Golf Queensland for an adjustment to increase the rating to 72 (71.5 exact).
